About Distance Education
What Is Distance Education?
It is a type of instruction in which teaching activities are carried out online, synchronously and/or asynchronously, using various information and communication technology tools, without requiring the instructor and students to be in the same location.
What Is Synchronous Distance Education?
It refers to instructors and students holding live classes simultaneously with the help of video conferencing/chat tools.
What Is Asynchronous Distance Education?
Course materials are prepared in advance by the instructor and shared with students. Students can access the course materials at any time they wish.
How Is the Distance Education Process Conducted at HKU?
At HKU, some of the courses you take during a semester are delivered through Distance Education, both synchronously and/or asynchronously. Synchronous courses are conducted via Zoom, while asynchronous courses are held through the LMS platform.
How Can I Participate in Distance Education Courses?
By logging in through the HKU Learning Management System (LMS) at oys.hku.edu.tr, you can access the course schedule, materials, online exams, and Zoom live sessions.
How Is Information Security Ensured?
All distance education data is retained by our institution and is not shared with third parties. The KVKK (Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698) is observed in the use of all records. For detailed information, you may visit hku.edu.tr/kvkk.
